The Lost Mountain Becomes LEGADO

mburhardtNews

Five years ago, professional climber and social entrepreneur Majka Burhardt saw a photo of a rock face in Africa and launched what is now an international conservation and development initiative on Mount Namuli, the second highest mountain in Mozambique. In the beginning we called the initiative the Lost Mountain. We’ve transitioned to a new name, LEGADO (“legacy” in Portuguese, Mozambique’s official language), to honor the importance of this mountain, along with our greater work and broader goals for this initiative centered on leadership and legacy.

Here is how it fits together:

LEGADO is a global venture designed to foster a future where people and ecosystems thrive. Together.

LEGADO: Namuli, our flagship initiative, is currently working to create targeted and measurable conservation and human livelihood gains on Mount Namuli, in Mozambique, with a vision to scale this approach to other mountain regions and communities.

Namuli, the film, is a documentary about the 2014 expedition that launched LEGADO. A global release and the kick off of an international tour of the film are set for January 2016.

We’ve also released our 2015 4th Quarter Update. Click here to learn about how your support together with our curiosity about a chain of mountains in Mozambique, are inspiring acts of leadership around the world.

Thank you for your support,
