Hilton Foundation highlights Legado in new video on centering communities
Source: Hilton Foundation
There's a difference between consulting a community for feedback after the fact and trusting them to lead from the outset. A new one-minute video from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation makes the case for the second—and features Legado and Thriving Futures as examples of how to center community ownership.
The video draws on a three-year study by the Bridgespan Group, which surveyed more than fifty practitioners working on community-led change across India and sub-Saharan Africa. The video sets out how funders can shift into more supportive roles—helping fill gaps while communities themselves lead the design and implementation of solutions.
We're honoured to be featured alongside Lwala Community Alliance and others doing this work. To learn more about the findings, see our case study from the Bridgespan research.
