Thriving Futures Ambassador

Veronica was born and raised in Ngilai community of Namunyak conservancy in Samburu East, Kenya. She is an accountant and business manager by profession. She studied at Africa Nazarene University and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in banking and finance. She also has a diploma in business administration and certified public accountancy. For the past eight years, Veronica has been working for Dumisha Sacco Society Limited where she started as an accounts assistant in 2014. She was promoted to branch manager in 2017, and as branch manager she also acted as branch accountant and credit manager. In her role, she was involved in the development and review of the company’s products, formulation and implementation of marketing strategies. She also led in community sensitization programs and implementation of the company’s policies, rules and procedures.

In her interaction with community members through sensitization programs, she observed there was need for more information on conservation issues, and that motivated her to start creating awareness within the local community. She has mobilized a group of youths in the local markets to clean the environment by collecting litter. It has always been Veronica’s dream to bring a change to the community through conservation. She wants to see a community that treasures their natural environment, a community where human and wildlife conflict will be a thing of the past and where the forest is treated as an asset to the community. She has been appointed a Thriving Futures Ambassador for the Legado:Namunyak program to build Thriving Futures in her community.
