Dear Legado Community,
Thank you for taking the time to connect with us.
I’m excited to share our Annual Report with you—a reflection on the impact we’ve made together this year. Inside, you’ll discover inspiring stories of the power of communities leading the change they want to see for their own futures. Scroll through below or click the Report Menu on the upper right to see the report at a glance.

A powerful truth stands out in each of the communities where we work: Indigenous and local people already know what they want and need for their communities and landscapes to thrive. They understand how the environment connects to human health or how education intersects with livelihoods. People live in these intersections every day.
When local people lead change based on their aspirations and priorities, the result is sustainable outcomes led by the knowledge, insights, and wisdom already found in Indigenous and local communities. The result is Thriving Futures. What Legado does is support people to articulate those visions for the future—their legacy—and walk alongside them as they bring that legacy into being.
Thank you for the part you played in bringing Thriving Futures to landscapes and communities around the world this year. We could not do it without the support of friends like you.
Best,
Majka Burhardt

Where we work

The Legado Approach
What We Do:
We Activate Legacy
We work alongside Indigenous and local communities to activate legacy. A legacy is a vision people set for themselves and their landscapes that builds on their communities’ already existing strengths.

How We Do It:
360° Community-Led Change
Working alongside communities, we take a 360° view of priorities, considering how all aspects of well-being intersect. We foster 360° participation, bringing in a large group of community members, including women, elders and youth.

The Outcome:
Thriving Futures
Indigenous people lead efforts at every step along the way as they advance holistic solutions relevant to the challenges they face.
